The Sunac Plaza, a joint venture between Sunac China and Huai'an SJID Group, is strategically situated at the intersection of Yan'an East Road and Tianjin Road. The project encompasses commercial streets, a shopping mall, and boutique residences, spanning a gross floor area of approximately 700,000 sqm. The plaza is divided into three blocks, with Block C dedicated to a shopping mall boasting a net commercial volume of 85,000 sqm.
The project's unique location near the Jing Hang Grand Canal and Liyun River enhances its appeal, offering a waterfront plaza that stands out in the urban landscape. The shopping mall houses international brands and provides a variety of services, including recreation, dining, and cultural activities. The open commercial streets offer more than just shopping; they create a vibrant fashion hub in Huai'an.
The Sunac Plaza's design is a testament to the beauty of simplicity. The facade, primarily made of beige stone material and stone-effect paint, is edged with grey aluminium plates. The buildings, varying in height, line up with the skyline, presenting a unified yet diverse picture. The design team, led by Sun Wei and Wang Zhongjian, focused on creating a harmonious integration with the environment.
One of the project's key strengths is its commitment to green architecture and energy conservation. The design takes full advantage of solar energy and uses energy-saving building envelope and insulated materials for windows and doors. The layout and form of the buildings are adapted to local climate conditions, further enhancing their energy efficiency.
The project faced significant challenges, particularly in balancing the relationship between architecture and nature. The design team had to ensure that the urban commercial center would not disrupt the historical landscape of the Grand Canal. They also had to address the increasing pressure on traffic in the area. Despite these challenges, the team successfully created a project that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally friendly and functional.
In conclusion, the Sunac Plaza is a shining example of how modern design and environmental sustainability can coexist in urban development. It is a testament to the innovative approach of Huai'an Guochuang Real Estate Co., Ltd. and their commitment to creating spaces that enhance the quality of urban living while respecting the environment.
